2009 Online Matchplay Championship England v ROW

Sarazen Links – November 16th – December 20th 2009

Match Play

All games are played under Match Play rules, where the result of each game is determined by the number of holes won. The order of play for the first two days is as follows: Day 1 Foursomes in the morning and Fourballs in the afternoon. Day 2 Fourballs in the morning and Foursomes in the afternoon. The final day's play will be in Singles format.

Fourball (4 / 5 groups of two two-man teams)

"Fourball" play is a match in which each member of the two-man teams plays their own ball. Four balls are in play per hole with each of the four players competing. The team whose player has the lowest score on that hole wins the hole. Should players from each team tie for the best score, the hole is halved. The winners shall be the team that wins the most holes and they shall be awarded 1 point towards there teams score. Should the two teams tie for best score, the hole is halved. If at the end of the match the scores are level then the match shall be halved and each pair shall receive ½ point towards the there teams score. This will be played over 9 holes.

Foursomes (4 / 5 groups of two two-man teams)

"Foursomes" play is a match where two golfers play together against two other golfers and each team plays one ball. The golfers play alternate shots (player A hits tee shot, player B hits second shot, etc) until the hole is played out. Team members alternate playing the tee shots, with one golfer hitting the tee shot on odd-numbered holes, and the other hitting the tee shot on the even-numbered holes. The team with the better score wins the hole.

Singles

(8 / 10 groups of two one-man teams this will be decided on the interest from members who will commit to play the event)

"Singles" is a match in which one player competes against another player. A player wins the match when he is up by more holes than there are holes remaining to play. The winning player shall be then awarded 1 point towards his team’s total. If both players win the equal amount of holes then the match shall be halved each player shall then be awarded ½ point. This will be played over 18 holes

Pairings

Each Team Captain independently submits the order of play for his Team to the appointed tournament administrator. The lists from each Captain are matched, resulting in the "Pairings". Please note that the players in pairings can be modified by the Team Captains only if a player is ill or for some genuine reason he cannot now participate and the Captain of the team then submits a newly registered player who will then be expected to play the whole tournament if selected by the captain. Pairings are subject to change and should not be considered final until play begins for a particular match.

Conditions & Files

The conditions and pin placements shall be set by an independent non playing member of each team, theses files shall then be available via the Online Tournaments page on the main links-golf.net site page, also on here you will find the MOP Files, Competition Rules and the Leaderboard. The lts file for each day shall be set up so that it can be sent straight to the administrator for the event who shall then update the leaderboard. The files that are required for this event shall be as follows. Ver File and Score.txt file and these are to be sent in to the administrator by one of the pairs from each team, also in the singles again both players to send in the requested files, my reason for this is that you someone might encounter a crash or other problems so I hope that this will cover us if this does happen.

It would also be appreciated if there any Hole in Ones in the event that they are also send into the administrator by the player who achieved the feat.
