links-golf.net /Golfgraffix / Tour Competition Rules

Welcome to the Rules page, these are the rules that we will be using for these tournaments, also the normal rules of golf will be used.

We shall be using Links v1.07

The mode of play for each of the 4 rounds shall be stroke play unless otherwise informed.

Each Tournament venue will be pre-selected by the Tour Officials and the Lts files for the 4 rounds will be made available for downloading. The Lts files will be produced using pin placements and conditions supplied to the administrator by the Green Keeper / Green Keepers of the IRL course.

These events will be run over a calendar month period, the dates will be published giving the start and the closing dates of each event, please understand that the time zone that we will be using shall be GMT, so files that are to be returned to the scorer’s tent will have to be in by midnight of the closing date, any files that are received after this time will be disregarded.

The Leaderboard will be updated on regular basis over the 3 week tournament period, this will be available at www.links-golf.net and at www.golfgraffix.com

All players that enter these tournaments need to create a separate player to be used solely for these events, and all players must a valid e-mail address, read further on.

Files & Forfeits

The files that are required to be sent in after you have completed each round are the Ver file & Score.txt file, after the 4th Round you need to also include with them your players pin file, the reason for the players pin file is that we all have computer crashes etc, therefore if this did happen to you I would be able to send you your pin file from the last event that you played in.
Any player that does not send in the required files will receive just one email from the administrator of the tour requesting them, if for whatever reason you are not able to send in these files, there will be a 3 shot penalty added to your score, this will happen every time that you do not send in the required files.
I know that it seems a bit harsh, but IRL, you would be disqualified for not signing your card.
The Lts file will be set up to record each round, this should then be saved, so that if for any reason you forget to save the required files, you can play back the record file and at the end save the files that are to be submitted.

links-golf.net /Golfgraffix / Tour Rules

All general rule of golf will apply, when creating your player for these tours you will use your proper name, no alias’s will be used, this player shall then only be used for the links-golf.net / Golfgraffix Tour, your player must be set at one of the following levels, Pro, Champ or Elite, therefore Amateur Settings are not allowed, the BLI is allowed but not the putting assistant.
Chipping on Greens, this one is a delicate subject, IRL etiquette usually takes president when players are on the Greens, but at certain times in a round of golf it cannot be avoided, therefore with this I ask that players use there discretion at all times and only chip when it is really necessary .

The tournaments will be Handicap Events, and the players will be required to register for each tournament prior to it commencing, and before they commence with there rounds. The handicaps to be used for the very first event that you participate in will be as follows.

Pro = +4 Champ = +3 Elite = +2

After the first tournament as been completed all players that completed the event, the full 4 rounds will have there handicaps adjusted, these will then be posted prior to the next tournament commencing, any player that enters and does not complete the 4 rounds, there handicap will not be adjusted until a time that they do complete all 4 rounds, in an event.

The result, in the event that we have a tie for first place position, and with a prize being donated there will have to be an 18 hole play off between the players that have tied for first place in the four rounds played. The play off round will either be one of the 4 rounds previously used in the event, this being decided by the administrator, which one to use or a fresh Lts file will be made available for the play off. If after the play off we still have not got a winner we shall then use the players score for the back 9 to determine the winner, and id we cannot then declare a winner the players score for holes 7,8 & 9 will be used, hopefully we will have a winner before we have to use these other methods.

Also any player that is not involved with the play off and plays the Lts for it and returns there file shall be disqualified from the whole tournament, so be warned that there will be no relaxing of this rule.

Resume’s / Restarts

There seems to be a lot of discussion on other sites regarding this, I don’t want to really go through all of what as been posted elsewhere, but unfortunately these do happen within Links 1.07, so if anyone does encounter this problem I would like when submitting your scores is that you please inform the administrator of the reason that you had a re-start / resume, it only needs to be a brief (Hole 12, restart due to game crashing, or what ever the reason unwanted telephone call).

Online Play

Although these tournaments are for Offline Play, the tour administrators have no objection to players playing these games online, no player is made to feel obliged to do so. With this in mind both players or however many play are still to submit the files that are required, it is your responsibility to ensure that you send in your own files, do not leave it to one of the other players to do so.

That just about covers the general outline of the tournament rules, these are subject to change once we are up and running, so it would be wise to check for any amendments as we progress these tournaments. One last thing in the schedule you will notice that two of the courses to be played are P2P, these will stay on the schedule so to play in the events when we are playing at The Hermitage and Bunclody, you will have to pay for these from APCD, where there is a small cost.
